    Plaquenil light sensitivity

I have a new work area from where I worked 9 months ago and this area has a TON of fluorescent lighting. By wed of this week, I was feeling terribly sick and by yesterday, I felt like I was in a "flare".

Plaquenil is what they prescribe for Lupus, Sjogren's and mild RA, so even though we aren't given the official diagnosis, we are treated the exact same. Plaquenil has been amazing for me. It does take about 3 months to notice. I was sensitive to the sun before I started, I'm not sure if this has improved because I avoid the sun completely. Photosensitivity, also called sun sensitivity, is an inflammation of the skin caused by a combination of certain chemicals and exposure to the sunlight. 1 Some medications commonly taken for RA may contain these light-activated chemicals. Exposure to either the light or the chemical alone is not enough to cause the reaction. Plaquenil should be stored at room temperature away from direct light and heat. Your doctor may recommend a single dose, or a high starting dose followed by a smaller dose 6 to 8 hours later for 2 days in a row. Follow your doctor's instructions. Take Plaquenil for the entire length of time prescribed by your doctor.

Then I googled fluorescent lighting and lupus and saw in Wikipedia, that the UV light from these lights can cause a flare. Does anyone else feel "not right" or "Unwell" also when they are shopping in large stores? One hour under fluorescent lights is equivalent to 15 minutes of sun exposure. They have to be taken to a hazardous materials waste site. I would like to see a study that says 1 hr flourescent equals 15 minutes of sun!! Included was a MAJOR migraine (which I never get) I asked them to remove some of the fluorescent bulbs over me and it helped.

View detailed reports from patients taking hydroxychloroquine sulfate who experienced photophobia. Reports are from official medical reports as well as online extractions from user reviews and forum discussions. I wonder if there are any studies on actinic light moonlight--blue/purple spectrum and sun sensitivity? They now make many differnt size screw in bulbs for older incandesccent fixtures that contain various percentages of actinic light at the pet stores, for reptiles and ome other creatures and for fsh. I light my house with aquarium bulbs. Not with Plaquenil, but AS especially and other rheumatoid illnesses are linked to Uveitis. Terribly painful, absolutely nausea inducing and you get light sensitivity with it that is unreal. If you think it could be uveitis google a little then go to the ER, it can damage your vision.
